Solomamma di Janicke Askevold selezionato per il Concorso Internazionale di Locarno

Solomamma, il lungometraggio d’esordio di Janicke Askevold, è stato selezionato per il Locarno Film Festival di quest’anno, dove sarà presentato in anteprima mondiale nel Concorso Internazionale. Il film è interpretato da Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure/Turist) e Herbert Nordrum (The Worst Person in The World). Le vendite internazionali sono gestite da Playtime.

SINOSSI

Edith, giornalista quarantenne, ha scelto di diventare madre single attraverso la fecondazione con donatore anonimo, convinta di poter costruire una vita seguendo le proprie regole. Oggi è la madre felice di un bambino di cinque anni. Tuttavia, il peso emotivo della genitorialità in solitudine inizia a farsi sentire, e i dubbi ad affiorare. Quando scopre casualmente l’identità del donatore – Niels, un affermato sviluppatore di videogiochi che vive nelle vicinanze – la curiosità la spinge a incontrarlo con la scusa di un’intervista.

Quello che nasce come un incontro calcolato si trasforma progressivamente in un legame autentico, portando Edith a mentire sempre di più e mettere in pericolo il delicato equilibrio della vita che si è costruita.

SUL FILM

Il desiderio di avere figli e una famiglia è un sogno condiviso da molte persone. Solomamma esplora le complessità della maternità in solitaria, i dilemmi etici e le sfide emotive vissute da donne come Edith, che sviluppa sentimenti per il padre biologico di suo figlio senza rivelargli la sua vera identità. Il film indaga il conflitto interiore tra desideri personali, aspettative sociali e responsabilità materna.

Solomamma esplora la maternità in solitaria attraverso la figura di Edith, che nasconde la propria identità al padre biologico di suo figlio. Divisa tra desiderio, dovere e identità, la protagonista affronta amore, etica e maternità in un percorso profondamente personale di scoperta di sé.

SULLA REGISTA

Janicke Askevold si è formata presso l’Atelier Théâtral de Création di Parigi, città in cui ha diretto diverse produzioni teatrali. Il suo cortometraggio Le contrat è stato selezionato in concorso al Grimstad Short Film Festival nel 2020, mentre il suo film per la televisione Sammen alene (Together Alone) ha avuto una distribuzione limitata in sala durante la pandemia, nel 2021. Solomamma è il suo primo lungometraggio, realizzato con il supporto del Norwegian Film Institute (NFI) tramite l’iniziativa NEO.

Solomamma è prodotto da Rebekka Rognøy, Magnus Nygaard Albertsen e Gary Cranner per Bacon Pictures (Norvegia), in coproduzione con Dansu Films (Lituania), Mistrus Media (Lettonia), It's Alive (Finlandia) e Bacon Pictures CPH (Danimarca). Il film è basato su una sceneggiatura originale di Jørgen Færøy Flasnes, Mads Stegger e Janicke Askevold. Torjus Thesen è il direttore della fotografia, mentre Patrick Larsgaard ha firmato il montaggio.
